Country cats like to live outside,
And go where they please, free and wide.
All day long they love to play or sleep,
At night, they hunt to earn their keep,
Catching mice who destroy the feed
That the Farmers for their animals need.
In winter, they need a warm place to stay,
A nice little house; or a bale of hay.
City cats mostly sleep all day.
Soon becoming too lazy to play.
To catch a mouse, they’ve become too fat.
When one runs by, “Oh, my! What’s that?
They sit in the window and see cats outside,
They’d like to run, too: free and wide.
If they could, they’d choose to be free,
Running and chasing whatever they see.
Have compassion on your pets, God tells us in His Word,
He even hears the sparrow’s fall, such a tiny little bird.
Animals don’t live as long as we, so add some life into their years.
Feed them well, care for them, and add not to their fears.
They serve us well through their lives as a part of God’s Creation,
You’ll feel good that you’ve cared for them with grateful appreciation.
A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel. Proverbs 12:10
Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. Matthew 10:29
