Ken Ham uses dinosaur billboards to perpetuate the lie that dinosaurs lived with humans. In fact, he will do anything to perpetuate this lie that dinosaurs lived with humans. Why? If the true origin of fossilized dinosaur bones is taught, the money-making fantasy of a “young earth” will collapse like a hot air balloon!

One reporter recently called Ken Ham and told him, and I quote: “An educator I spoke to said you are intentionally using dinosaurs as a bait to get kids to the museum. Do you admit it?” Ken Ham: “My reply, though I did not care for the word “bait,” was, “Of course we are! We’re not just trying to attract children, but dads and moms. We wouldn’t have gone to the effort of building a museum if we didn’t want all people to visit!”

His “museum,” is more like a fantasy world; or, circus sideshow, all “souped-up” with modern, mechanized, life-sized models of dinosaurs. Here is a picture of Mr. Ham petting the head of his mechanized tyrannosaurus rex. Notice how the teeth are de-emphasized.

Above is a picture of the skeleton of a real Tyrannosaurus Rex. Notice the teeth!  If real dinosaurs had been in the Garden of Eden, it would have been more like Jurassic Park than a garden paradise.

I would give the Oscar to the film “Jurassic Park” for the most accurate portrayal of the true nature of dinosaurs and what would happen if they lived with man. Those that believe in an earth that is only 6,000 +/- years old, regard that film as dangerous and harmful. Why? The story line ends with everyone being rescued by the military from their “garden paradise” just “in the nick of time.” Ken Ham hates the fact that even Hollywood showed the impossibility of humans and dinosaurs living together in the movie “Jurassic Park.” Remember, when the origin of the dinosaur fossils is known, common sense will tell you the earth must have a history longer than 6,000 years.

Ken Ham and his like perpetrate the lie that dinosaurs are in the Bible. They say, “Since the word “dinosaur” wasn’t invented until 1842 and the Bible was written hundreds of years earlier, the Bible just calls dinosaurs by another name. This is not true! This is just another lie made up by Ken Ham. What magical hat did he pull this out of, and you are supposed to believe it?

What words did God really use to tell us about dinosaurs?

Absolutely none! We will find that the scriptures containing these words they claim are references to dinosaurs are actually referring to known animals of those times.

Behemoth, Leviathan, Tannin are three Hebrew words which Ken Ham believes refer to dinosaurs. Every time he encounters these three words, he believe he has discovered the Loch Ness Monster in Scripture.

1. Exactly What Is a Behemoth?
“Behemoth” is from the Hebrew word “behemot” and means a water-ox, or hippopotamus.  It is used only once in Job 40:15. (Strong's Greek & Hebrew Dictionary)

A. Job 40:15 – “Behold now behemoth, which I made (asah) with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.”

Long before Jumbo, the elephant, was dreamed of, a hippo was exhibited by George K. Bailey (Barnum & Bailey Circus), who invented the tank on wheels now used so generally in the circuses. The beast was advertised as "the blood sweating Behemoth of Holy Writ," and he made several men rich. (Isaac F. Marcosson, "Sawdust and Gold Dust," the title of his book)

The whole context which describes “Behemoth,” or the hippopotamus, is given in Job 40:15-24. Mr. Ham and his buddies think this can’t possibly be a hippo because they think the hippo’s tail has to be like a cedar tree. This reference is not about its size of the tail. It is about the strength of its roots. The word “cedar” comes from the Hebrew word “araz” and refers to the tenacity or strength of its roots. The word “tree” is not even in this sentence.

If you could look at the south end of a hippo going north, which I don’t recommend, you will notice his tail is securely anchored between his flanks. He moves it in the sense of “flapping,” taken from the Hebrew word, “zanab.” (Strong’s).

To show the accuracy of the Bible, there is an interesting fact about the flapping of a hippo’s tail, as given by experts at the Brookfield Zoo (Brookfield, IL). If you care for more proof on this subject, just visit your friendly YouTube browser and type it in. Prepare to be amazed by the intricacies of God’s creation. He does nothing without a good reason, and that goes for the flapping of a hippo’s tail.

Here Is Ken Ham’s Explanation of Job 40:15-24:

“In the Bible, in Job 40:15–24, God describes to Job (who lived after the Flood) a great beast with which Job was familiar. This great animal, called “behemoth,” is described as “the chief of the ways of God,” perhaps the biggest land animal God had created.”

Refutation: We are talking about hippopotamuses here and they can weigh as much as 7,100 pounds if it is an older male. The average male gets up to 3,300 to 4,000 pounds. African Elephants are today’s largest land animal with the average male weighing in at 12,000 lbs. although there have been larger males recorded. This refutes Ken Ham’s statement in his attempt to deceive you, that the Behemoth is a dinosaur, instead of a hippopotamus! (Nice try, Mr. Ham!)

Ken Ham: “Impressively, he moved his tail like a cedar tree! Although some Bible commentaries say this may have been an elephant or hippopotamus, the description actually fits that of a dinosaur like Brachiosaurus. Elephants and hippos certainly do not have tails like cedar trees!

Refutation: Insisting the tail must be as big as a cedar trees is a misrepresentation of Scripture. What is meant is that the hippo’s tail is deeply rooted like a cedar tree, and he flaps his tail which is flattened and used to spread his dung to mark his territory. Sorry, Mr. Ham, as you constantly twist Scriptures to inject your philosophy to deceive the “innocent and unsuspecting.”

Why this passage does not describe a brachiosaurus.

“Behemoth…eateth grass as an ox.”

Hippopotamuses leave the rivers at night and head over the banks to feed on nearby grass; and, occasionally, a farmer’s field. If you happen to stray between the hippo herd and the river in the morning, they will “dance on your remains.”

Behemoth is described here in Job as a water dwelling creature.

Brachiosaurus was a, a huge dinosaur, and a land animal. It was one of the tallest and largest dinosaurs yet found. It had a long neck, small head, and relatively short, thick tail. Brachiosaurus' feet and limbs were not broad enough to support the heavy animal in mud; but its back was flexible enough to support it on land. Its chest was narrow and deep, which is insufficient for breathing underwater, and inconsistent with modern-day water-dwelling large animals (like hippos). (ibid.)

Behemoth was not described as having a long neck that could reach into the tree tops. (Evidently, Mr. Ham has overlooked the truth.)

Brachiosaurus, because of their extremely long necks, fed on coniferous trees (evergreen), gingkoes and cycads. While it is believed that they stripped trees of their vegetation, they may have supplemented their diets with vegetation, such as bushes at lower levels, especially as the food supply dwindled. Behemoth is described as an extremely strong, aggressive animal “made” by the LORD which only the LORD could conquer, as described in Scripture.

“His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron. (19) He is the chief of the ways (works) of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.”  – Job 40:18-19

Brachiosaurus, because of his size had few enemies. His defense was to “just step on them,” probably accidentally! (ibid)

Behemoth was clever. He would lie in wait for his prey “… under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed (bulrushes), and fens (swamp)

Brachiosaurus was a sauropoda (the suborder of herbivores; or, very large plant eaters), whose intelligence (as measured by its relative brain to body weight, or EQ) was the among the lowest of the dinosaurs. In other words, he had a tiny brain compared to his body and was lowest in IQ of the dinosaurs. May I ask you. Do you find any similarities in Job 40:15-24 to a Brachiosaurus? You could hunt from now to Eternity and you would not find them. They are not there because DINOSAURS ARE NOT MENTIONED IN THE BIBLE!

2. What Is a Leviathan?

“Leviathan” is from the Hebrew Word “‏liwyātān” and means a “wreathed animal,” from the idea that you twist vines to make a wreath. It is an animal that twists such as a crocodile, snake; or some other (river or) sea animal). It is translated 5 times as “leviathan,” and once as “mourning.” (Strong's Greek & Hebrew Dictionary).

An important point to remember! The context will reveal this animal’s identity. If you read a few verses before and a few verses after what you do not understand, the Bible will make the meaning perfectly clear. Taking one verse alone out of context is how people like Ken Ham can make you think whatever they want to. Reading into the Scripture what is not there is how guys like Ken Ham can make you believe there are dinosaurs in the Bible. God urges us all to:

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” - 2 Timothy 2:15

1.  In Job, Chapter 41, “Leviathan” Is a Described as the Nile Crocodile,

“Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?  (Job 41:1)

Almost all commentaries agree that this is not a dinosaur, this is a crocodile. We will quote from just one.

“This description (meaning the 41st Chapter of Job) suits no animal but the crocodile;… The crocodile is a natural inhabitant of the Nile, and other Asiatic and African rivers. It is a creature of enormous voracity and strength, as well as fleetness in swimming. He will attack the largest animals, and even men, with the most daring impetuosity. In proportion to his size he has the largest mouth of all monsters. The upper jaw is armed with forty sharp strong teeth, and the under jaw with thirty-eight. He is clothed with such a coat of mail as cannot be pierced, and can in every direction resist a musket-ball.”(However, those that watch the reality series “Swamp Wars” know that a rifle shot to the top of the head does the job!)

"They take the back or spine of a swine, and bait a hook with it, and throw it into the midst of the river; and the fisherman stands at some distance on the shore holding a young pig, which (squeals). When the crocodile hears this he immediately makes towards the sound; and, finding the baited hook in his way, swallows it, and is then drawn to land, when they dash mud into his eyes, and blind him; after which he is soon despatched (killed)." This is not a dinosaur. You wouldn’t even think of trying to catch a dinosaur this way!

2.  In Psalm 74:14 – Leviathan and Dragons are Personifications And Both Food for the Scavengers

“Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads of the dragons (tannin) in the waters. (13) Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, and gavest him to be meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness.” - Psalm 74:13-14

a.     “thou breakest the heads of the dragons” (V.13) – Pharoah and his captains – the heads  of the government of Egypt.

“Speak, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great dragon (tannin) that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which hath said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for myself. –Ezekiel 29:3

b. “To the people inhabiting the wilderness” (Vs.14)—meaning the birds and beasts of prey. These were the people of the wilderness, which fed on the dead bodies of the Egyptians, which the tides had cast ashore (when the Red Sea rolled back over them) after the Israelites had crossed over.” (Adam Clarke's Commentary)

3. In Psalm 104:26 the Leviathan Is A Whale, Not a Plesiosaur (a Type of Dinosaur).

“There go the ships: there is that leviathan (whale), whom thou hast made to play therein.” (26) “

The  context of  this verse, Psalm 104:19-30, shows “Leviathan” is a whale. That is the largest animal that sailors would most likely see playing in the waves. Many people pay whale-watching excursions big money to see this whale behavior.  Sorry, there are no dinosaurs here, either! How wonderful it is to examine the Word of God against the false philosophy of Ken Ham and his deceptive museum who plans to transfer your money to his coffers.

4.  Isaiah 27:1 – “Leviathan” Is a Sea Snake

“In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan  the piercing serpent (nachash) (a poisonous snake with fangs),even leviathan  that crooked serpent (nachash) and he shall slay the dragon (tannin)  that is in the sea.”

Here we have leviathan pictured as the deadly sea snake which wiggles though the waves to swim.

Note: The longest of all sea snakes is the narrow banded sea snake which can grow up to 9 feet long. All 50 of the world's sea snakes are venomous, but probably the most venomous is the sea snake Hydrophis belcheri. An adult sea snake may carry enough venom to kill approximately three adult people. There is anti-venom available for sea snakes. Also in this verse is the Hebrew word, nachash, meaning “a snake (from its hiss), translated serpent,” is the same word used for Satan in Genesis 3:1.

We still have not discovered one dinosaur in the Bible, have we, Mr. Ham?

Ken Ham’s Favorite: Dragons!
This is Ken Ham’s Favorite because he believes the King James Translation is inspired and he doesn’t have to think about what any word in God’s Word means. He thinks the translation is as inspired as the original manuscripts. That is what has caused this nightmarish false doctrine to be perpetrated on unsuspecting congregations everywhere.

Well, we are going to give the translation of his favorite word anyway; as we are not interested in hearing Ken Ham’s pitch; but, in the actual Word of God. That is the only place you can find the truth.

The word “dragon” is translated from the Hebrew word “tannin” and has the meaning of any water or land animal, such as a sea-serpent or jackal; or, it can be a person who is personified as one of these animals. In the King James Translation it is translated as dragon 22 times, sea-monster (only once), serpent (3), whale (3 times). (Strong's Greek & Hebrew Dictionary).

Context! Context! Context! When you see the word “tannin” translated as “dragon,” you must determine what animal is meant by the context.

An "Interview" With Ken Ham - Are Dinosaurs Mentioned in Ancient Literature?
Usually no one ever has a chance to talk back to Mr. Ham; however, these are his own words taken from an article on the AIG website, Dinosaurs and the Bible by Ken Ham November 5, 1999. Of course, "Bible Questions & Answers" represents our "interviewer."

Ken Ham: “Interestingly, the word “dragon” is used a number of times in the Old Testament. In most instances, the word dinosaur could substitute for dragon and it would fit very nicely.”

Bible Questions & Answers: The only thing I see similar about that is that both words begin with “D.” Actually, Ken, the only thing that matters is what God said, and he was talking about real live animals like: sea-serpents (snakes), jackals, whales, and other animals; or, even animals representing people, whose identity we must determine from the context. God also said,

“Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” - Proverbs 30:6

Ken Ham: Creation scientists believe that dinosaurs were called dragons before the word dinosaur was invented in the 1800s. We would not expect to find the word dinosaur in Bibles like the Authorized Version (1611), as it was translated well before the word dinosaur was ever used.

Bible Questions & Answers: I would have to inform your “creation scientists” that is not a very scientific assumption.

Ken Ham: Also, there are many very old history books in various libraries around the world that have detailed records of dragons and their encounters with people. Surprisingly (or not so surprisingly for creationists), many of these descriptions of dragons fit with how modern scientists would describe dinosaurs, even Tyrannosaurus. Unfortunately, this evidence is not considered valid…

Bible Questions & Answers: That does not sound like valid evidence to me. I would have to judge that for myself. What’s the name of that History book and what library is it in?

Ken Ham: However, the more we research the historical literature, the more we realize there is overwhelming evidence that dragons were real beasts, much like our modern reconstructions of dinosaurs, and that their existence has been recorded by many different people, even just hundreds of years ago.

Bible Questions & Answers: The only history books I have found are ones that record dragon MYTHS from various countries and times. I hardly think that ancient mythology would be scientific proof that dinosaurs walked with man; nor, would a historical book about the development of dragon mythology in Europe and China be scientific proof. In fact, I don’t see any similarities at all between the depictions of dragon art and reconstructed dinosaurs that you see in the museums.

Bible Questions & Answers: Since no one has seen any live dinosaurs lately, what happened to them?

Ken Ham: God sent two of every (seven of some) land animal into the Ark (Genesis 7:2–3; 7:8–9)—there were no exceptions. Therefore, dinosaurs must have been on the Ark. Even though there was ample room in the huge ship for large animals, perhaps God sent young adults into the Ark that still had plenty of room for them to grow. All the land animals that did not go on the Ark drowned. Many would have been covered with tons of mud as the rampaging water covered the land (Genesis 7:11–12,19). Because of this quick burial, many of the animals would have been preserved as fossils.

Bible Questions & Answers: I would have to call you an out and out liar on that one. That is not enough time for a fossil to form.  I am going to call a halt to this fraudulent misrepresentation of God’s Word and move on to the truth about how long it takes to make a fossil.

When were the dinosaur fossils laid down?

Proponents of Young Earth Creationism, like Ken Ham, who hold to the belief that the planet Earth is only about 6000 years old, preach that the vast sedimentary deposits of the Earth's crust were deposited during Noah's flood, and that all the fossils found within that strata are the result of creatures that died during that flood. The Scriptures, the Earth's geology, and a little reasoning expose the fallacy of that belief system of Ken Ham.

The Bible says that the Earth's mountains are very, very old:

"And for the chief things of the ancient mountains, and for the precious things of the lasting hills," - Deut. 33:15

When Noah's flood occurred, the Scriptures say the waters of the flood covered the tops of the mountains, so the present-day mountains already existed:

"And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters. And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that [were] under the whole heaven, were covered. Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered."- Gen 7:18-20

Geologic Fact: Portions of most of the Earth's mountain ranges are composed of sedimentary strata or metamorphosed sediments which contain fossils (the evidence of living creatures long since dead and buried). Three examples are the Appalachian mountain range of the eastern United States (one of the older ones), the Alps of Europe and the Himalayas (one of the younger ones). The sedimentary layers that were uplifted to form these great mountain ranges are many thousands of feet thick in places and well above sea level today. In many places, especially in the older Appalachian range, angular unconformities abound, showing where ancient sediments have been tilted and partially eroded, with newer more horizontal sediments being deposited atop the tilted erosion contact surface.

If these mountains existed before Noah's flood (which the Bible says they did), and these mountains were formed from uplifted sediments containing fossils (go climb a mountain and see them with your own eyes), then the creatures that these fossils came from all died sometime long BEFORE the great flood.

Conclusion: When you honestly think through all these considerations, it becomes quite clear that the fossils of the Earth's sedimentary rock layers have been there a long, long time. Those creatures were dead and buried, and the strata was already present on the planet when we find the Earth “without form and void” at Genesis chapter 1, verse 2. No other interpretation meets all the criteria of truth. No, we are not saying that Noah's global flood did not happen? No! What we are saying is that the Earth's sedimentary rocks were not made by Noah's flood and are NOT the evidence of Noah's flood. (Source: http://www.kjvbible-.org/sediment.html)

Dinosaurs were part of the animals that lived on the Original Creation. Scripture does not tell us the length of time it took for Satan’s envy of God’s position to fester into the open. Satan maneuvered himself into such a position of influence that he could persuade one-third of the other angels to join him in a rebellion.  Dinosaurs were extinct and fossilized before God’s judgment on the Original Creation. All it takes to form a stone fossil is time and water. Fossils are made when the cells of the dead organism are replaced with minerals.

And it does not take long for a species to go extinct. Five animal species have gone extinct in the last ten years: such as the Yangtze River Dolphin, the West African Black Rhino, the Pinta Island Tortoise, the Hawaiian Crow, the Panamanian Golden Frog. (Greentalk.com) Has anyone seen a Dodo Bird lately? They went extinct in 1688-1693.  Approximately 34 Animals Have Become Extinct Over the Last 100 Years. On September 7, 1936, the last known Tasmanian Tiger died at the Hobart Zoo in Tasmania. This was the first known species of animal to become extinct in Tasmania. So how did an animal that was common enough just 100 years earlier to have a bounty placed on it, become extinct in such a short time? The answer, unfortunately, is humans.

When God judged the earth because of Satan’s sin, it became a cold dead earth covered with water. When God withdrew the influence of the stars and planets, including our sun, it became a ball of ice. Any living creature upon it would die, and they did, by the thousands. All the fossils that were remained would prove the earth is much older than 6,000 years. God did not give us the length of time the earth was “without form and void.”

To restate this: The judgment was immediate. Because the earth has a very long history, archaeologists found fossilized remains. Because the judgment was immediate, you find some living creatures with flesh and food in their stomachs. That is the reason Ken Ham, Carl Baugh, Henry Morris, must find a way to make you believe that dinosaurs lived and walked with man. For their proof, they begin to talk about things like the cave drawings of native peoples which is a product of their imagination; or, such as St. George and the Dragon, which is a myth.

Here are some other things Ken Ham doesn’t believe found in His “Seven C’s of History.”

In looking at Ken Ham’s famous “dispensational timeline,” you will find many gaps for a guy who doesn’t believe in the “Gap Principle.” For Instance, between “Confusion” and “Christ,” there is nothing for the Dispensation of Law. And between the “Cross” and the “Consummation” there is no Church Age, no Rapture, no 7-Year Tribulation Period, and no Kingdom Reign of Christ. In addition, he leads people to believe they cannot be saved unless they believe in the young earth view. My friend, you can trust Jesus Christ as your Savior, even if you don’t know there was an Adam and Eve, or a Garden in Eden!

Sadly, when Ken Ham gives “his” Gospel to the children, here is what he says.

"The Lord Jesus Christ died on a cross, but on the third day, rose again, conquering death, so that anyone who believes in Him and accepts Him into his or her life, is able to come back to God and live for eternity with the Creator.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16);

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9)." (End of quote and end of Ken Ham's "gospel.")

 Sounds good, doesn't it? No, it does not! We do not have to confess our sins to have eternal life. We just have to believe that Christ died on the Cross, to pay for our sins, plus nothing. In John 19:30, Christ said, “It is finished.” Ephesians 2:8,9 tells us…

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

 Here, we will have to find this man guilty of adding to the Gospel Further, Ken Ham, tells the children their everlasting life is not in Heaven; but in the New Heavens and the New Earth. (2 Peter 3:13) Doesn’t that leave a big question in your mind about Ken Ham’s Theology.  If I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ now and then die, where am I until it is time for the New Heavens and the New Earth; or, as he puts it, the “Consummation.” Remember, sll the material from Ken Ham quoted on this website came from his article “Dinosaurs and the Bible,” on the AIG website. They are his own words!

 My Bible says to...

 “…mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.” (Romans 16:17-18)

The word “Simple” means to be ”innocent and unsuspecting.” To be simple means you will fall victim to any lies about Creation.

We do not deny the former existence of dinosaurs because the fossilized bones are in the ground. What we can deny is the existence of the Geologic Column, supposed to prove evolution, which was invented by Charles Lyell, a Scottish lawyer. In his book, published in the 1830’s  and called the Principles of Geology, Lyell proposed the concept of the “geologic column,” where each rock layer was given a name (like Jurassic), an age, and an index fossil. They dated fossils by the rock layer they were found in. They still refer to the Geologic Index today to substantiate the findings of their other dating methods. The Geologic Column is accepted purely by faith which contradicts God’s Word.

If the rock layers of earth’s crust had stayed the same all through time; and had not been jumbled by God’s judgment on the Original Creation; and later by the World Wide Flood judgment in the time of Noah, the Geologic Column would work. However, such is not the case. The earth did suffer God’s Judgment and the World Flood did occur; therefore, a nice little pie slice of earth’s crust does not reveal orderly layers of rock like the growth rings of a tree; but, layers that are all mixed together. Further, fossils of creatures, already extinct before God’s judgment on the Original Creation, were mixed together with the debris left after the flood, just as you see following a flood today.

 In God’s creation every creature has its place and job to do, no matter how ugly or distasteful. We dislike spiders but they control the fly population. All snakes alike prey on small rodents, or we would be knee deep in rats and mice. In essence God created this earth with a food chain in a perfect balance.

We might ask, “Why did God create dinosaurs and put them on the Original Creation in the first place?” He did it in the same way he has provided a balance for plant, animal, and human life today. They must have fulfilled their purpose for the only thing left of the dinosaurs today is their fossilized remains. They either went extinct or perished when God’s judgment fell upon Satan and his followers.

When the “Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters” in Genesis 1:2b, God began to restore the earth for the habitation of mankind. God was very specific about the materials he used in remodeling the earth. He brushed away the clouds and the sun came shining through. The earth became beautiful when the seed that remained in the ground brought forth fruit trees, grass, and herb yielding seed.(Gen. 1:11)

“And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.”(Gen. 1:21) “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” (Genesis 1:27).

But…there are no dinosaurs mentioned!

Therefore, do not worry that a marauding Tyrannosaurus Rex will suddenly snatch up your child for dinner; or, that a huge brachiaosaurus will come rumbling across the front lawns of your neighborhood and squash your car in the driveway. You will only find their skeletons in the real museums. They are gone! All gone. Sorry, Mr. Ham, They are as extinct as the Dodo Bird and the Tasmanian Tiger.

Not only were dinosaurs not “alive and well on planet earth”; but, they cannot be found in Scripture, either. Since they are not on this creation, the one remodeled for man’s habitation, common sense tells us the only place they could have been was on the Original Creation.

 It's A Business!

Ken Ham’s museum is a total money-making adventure, masquerading as a non-profit institution. In fact this statement appears on his speaker’s resume. “Ken Ham is the president/CEO and founder of Answers in Genesis-U.S. Sounds like a business to me. It is the attraction built upon the ideologies of Ken Ham to magnetize you to visit; and, of course, there  is a healthy charge of $29.95 per person. Money is the name of the game, Folks!

The total income for the museum in 2012 was $21,611,152.00 with product sales of $10,508,617.00.  The web site claims that Ken Ham is one of the most in-demand Christian speakers in North America.” We could not determine how much it actually would cost to have Ken Ham speak in your church; but, I am sure after you add up the plane fare, the accommodations, and the honorarium (his fee) (Let’s estimate that at a $1,500.00), you are talking thousands of dollars. Multiply that by at least 50 of the 52 weeks in the year and you get some idea of what you can add to his salary “package” of $200,000.00 a year. We are now up to $275,000 plus Let’s say only half the books the museum sold were his for an additional $525,430.85 and we are now up to $800,430.85. We have not figured in his book royalties from sales from other places such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Christian Bookstores, etc.;and by this time I am sure you get the picture, the man is a millionaire!

Add to that, four of Ham’s children, his son-in-law, his brother, and his sister-in-law are listed as staff members, with annual salaries between approximately $1300 and nearly $80,000 (Schedule L, Part IV). (PT’s year-end report on AIG By Matt Young on December 26, 2012 8:00 AM.)

 He and his fellow creationists have proposed a creationist theme park called Ark Encounter, centered around a “full-size” replica of Noah’s Ark. At Ham’s request, the governor of Kentucky has proposed a $43 million tax break for the park, as well as an $11 million road improvement project for the highway leading to it.  As of January, Ham had failed to raise even half the money required to build the ark replica itself, let alone the rest of the park. To help out, you can buy a peg, a blank, or even a beam for $100, $500, and $1,500, respectively…I am sure these tax breaks extended to AIG will come out of the pockets of some of the most disadvantaged citizens of the country, the people of Kentucky whose average median income is 32,591.00 for a 4-person family.

Ken Ham is making thousands from Christians who will not take the time to study, and that includes pastors and laymen alike!

Ken Ham’s “Theology”
Sometime back, I called to talk with Ken Ham. I was greeted by one of his representatives. I was curious to find out what Biblical doctrines he believed. I asked if Ham believed the Rapture, the 7-year Tribulation, the 1,000 Year Kingdom Reign of Christ on the Earth, the New Heavens and Earth, along with several others. His representative advised me that Mr. Ham doesn’t get into those things, as  his ministry is centered on proving evolution  false.

He would not reveal what Ham believed concerning my questions. I have found, from past experience, when a person will not reveal what they believe concerning major doctrine of the Bible, the same is a false and dishonest Bible teacher.

One of Ken Ham’s favorite sayings that I have read in his writings is, “We need to get back to Biblical authority.” In other words, if you do not follow his teaching in Genesis, you do not believe Gods Word. He pounds this philosophy home to his listeners and readers. This is reverse psychology at its best. In other words, if you don’t believe Ham’s teaching concerning a young earth, you don’t believe God’s Word. Now let us go to the Word of God and examine true biblical authority in lieu of Ham’s philosophy.

1.  “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1 In the beginning is when the Heavens and earth were first created; i.e., came into existence. God says it was created beautiful as He describes it in Isaiah 45:18,

“For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.”

2. The Earth was created beautiful, not “in vain.” It is interesting to note the word “vain” in Isaiah 45:18 is the Hebrew word “tohuw” meaning to lie waste, be desolate, worthless, and vain,” and is  translated in Gen. 1:2a as the phrase “without form and void;” or, “tohuw va bohuw. Notice carefully that the Original Creation was beautiful, not created in a ruined condition, completely covered with frozen water. (Genesis 1:2).

3. Genesis 1:2. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”

a.     The word “was” is a mistranslation from the Hebrew and context. It should have been translated properly as “became.” It is the same Hebrew word translated “became” in Genesis 2:7…“…and man became a living soul.”

b.    In Genesis 1:1, the Original Creation prepared for Lucifer and all of the angels was beautiful.

Note: Ken Ham appears to me that he does not want to adhere to or recognize Hebrew manuscripts at all. In other words, the King James Translation is without error. Therefore, the translation and the translators were inspired by the Holy Spirit the same as the chosen men of God who penned the original manuscripts. Now, let us examine the Word of God  in 2 Peter 1:21 to see if this philosophy is true.

“Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. (20) For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” (21)

1. “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man:” In other words, the original Scriptures that are contained in the Bible are not just made up by some person who wanted to express his own opinion about something.

2. “but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” In other words, the original words were penned by men chosen of God. The original manuscripts contained God’s words, as the Holy Spirit directed the minds of the writer to pen exactly what God wanted mankind to know. These original  manuscripts are the only ones that are without error.

3. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” (2 Timothy 3:16)

This lets us know that the Hebrew Old Testament and the Greek New Testament in the original manuscripts were inspired by God, who by the Holy Spirit directed the minds of the writers.

4.  The translators of any Bible were never inspired as the original writers were. I do not know of any translations of the Bible that are without error, as the originals were.

5. From Ken Ham’s writing, it appears evident that he refuses to recognize any translational errors within the King James Translation. Should he acknowledge the Hebrew, the young earth philosophy would evaporate. Nowhere in the original Bible does God even hint the translators were inspired as the original writers.

Note: When talking to a Ken Ham representative I asked him about several major doctrines of the Bible and where did Ken Ham stand on these. The answer I received was evasive, as I was told that Mr. Ham does not get involved in these things, as his ministry is solely in disproving evolution. In Hebrews 10:7 we are told,

“Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.”

“Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,” - Psalm 40:7

However, Ham has primarily limited himself to dinosaurs and Genesis.

Questions for Ken Ham
The following are some questions you should want to ask Mr. Ham about, to find out what this man really believes that he does not want to reveal.

1.  Do you believe in Lordship Salvation. This is, if one is not living the way a Christian should, they are not really saved?

2.  Do you believe that the speaking in tongues is for today?

3.  Do you believe that God gives people visions and dreams today?

4.  Is it God’s will to heal everyone today if they have enough faith?

5. I notice from your diagram, the Seven C’s of History, that you start with Creation and continue to Christ on the Cross. You then jump from the Cross to the Consummation showing a round circle with a square, which I assume represents a New Heaven and a New Earth.

6.  Do you believe in Soul Sleeping until the Consummation?

7.  Do you believe in the Rapture? (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17).

8.  I don’t see anything in your Prophetic Chart about the 7-year Tribulation, a time of Israel’s and the world’s judgment, described in Revelation, Chapters 6-19.

9.  I don’t see anything about Christ’s Kingdom Reign on earth for a 1,000 years.

10. When was Satan created before his appearance in Eden?

11. Can you lose your Salvation once you are saved?

12. I cannot find where you have attended any Bible college, institution; or have taken any biblical correspondence courses. Please explain if I am wrong.

13. Have you ever pastored a church?

14. Have you ever taught a Sunday School Class?

These are just a few of the questions that pertain to some major doctrines of God’s Word. Why, Mr. Ham are you reluctant to respond and let people of all denominations know where you stand? Could it be that almost all denominations believe in Creation and oppose evolution? Therefore, not stepping out of the bounds of evolution, you can attract many people of all denominations to visit your museum and deposit some money in your coffers.

But, if you reveal your thoughts and beliefs concerning the above questions, you are going to offend denominations that will not fall for your dinosaurs and young earth philosophy. Therefore, they will not want anything to do with you, and that will cost you money. You are very smart in not revealing or exposing yourself to these doctrinal questions. Is it scriptural to conceal what you really believe concerning the major doctrines of the Bible, outside of dinosaurs and a young earth? My Bible says in 2 Timothy 4:1,2,

“I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; (1) Preach the word (all the Bible); be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.”

 "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:” - 1 Peter 3:15

The saddest part of this whole story is, Ken Ham has developed science curriculum now for Christian schools and home schoolers, and he is indoctrinating your children. He is going on his second generation since coming to this country; and, even if the Creation Museum doesn't do well and his "full size Ark" doesn't get built, he can still do very well, personally, from the royalties on his books and speaking engagements. Don’t be “innocent and unsuspecting” and let Ken Ham and his buddies sneak up on you and indoctrinate your family, and your church with Satan’s lies. Use your God-given common sense and think! That’s my answer to Genesis.
