Question: How can I explain Isaiah 45:7 which says that "God created evil." This has me stumped!
Answer: Isaiah 45:7 states,
"I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace and CREATE EVIL: I the LORD do all these things."
The word "evil" in the above quoted text is translated from the Hebrew word "ra." "Ra" is translated "sorrow, wretchedness, adversity, afflictions, calamities", BUT; never translated "sin." God created evil only in the sense that He made sorrow, wretchedness, and etc. to be the sure fruits of sin.
